SAVE THE WATER: SIGN THE PEITITION By Dick McGinn
The Bill of Rights Committee aims to collect at least 2000 signatures in Athens County, which will suffice to place an initiative on the ballot in November, 2015, calling for a new Charter form of government for the County. The Charter will secure local self-government rights to fight back against corporations and state agencies which have targeted Athens County as a “sacrifice zone” and dumping ground for imported waste products from horizontal hydro-fracking.
Every voter in the county can sign the petition, including citizens from all 14 townships. If you wish to help with the signature-gathering campaign in your part of the county, please contact Sally Jo Wiley (sjwiley@frontier.com) or Dick McGinn (mcginn@ohio.edu).
Please look for an opportunity to sign the petition, and spread the word among friends, family and colleagues. The whole community must be mobilized in the campaign to save our water and protect the health and safety of the people of Athens County, for ourselves and for future generations.
